Johann Gottlieb Theophil Bosseck

Johann Gottlieb Theophil Bosseck (born April 3, 1718 in Leipzig ; † June 7, 1798 there ) was a German Lutheran orientalist and Hebraist . He taught at the University of Leipzig .

Life

Johann Gottlieb Theophil Bosseck began studying at the University of Leipzig in 1735. Two years later he finished his studies and was awarded a Baccalaureus artium. The university received his doctorate in 1739 for a master's degree and in 1743 for a baccalaureus in theology .

In 1745 the theological faculty hired Bosseck as an associate professor for Hebrew and Oriental Studies.

In 1754 Bosseck held a college degree at the Saxon State High School in Sankt Afra . In 1762 he can be proven as Canon of Wurzen , in 1773 as President of the Philobiblical Society .

In Leipzig, Bosseck received his doctorate in philology in 1789 . He died there in 1798 at the age of 80.
