Johann Graf Lambsdorff

Johann Graf Lambsdorff (* 1965 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German economist and founder of the Corruption Perception Index .

Lambsdorff began studying mathematics in Frankfurt am Main , before moving to the University of Göttingen , where he received his diploma in economics in 1992 . In 1994 he wrote his dissertation on the topic: Raw materials prices and international transmission mechanisms. In 2000, Lambsdorff completed his habilitation in economics at the University of Göttingen on the subject of Corruption in Global Perspective - an Economic Investigation. Then he was a private lecturer in Göttingen until 2003, before he became a professor for economic theory at the University of Passau . In addition, he regularly lectures at the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).

Lambsdorff's research focuses on the economic theory of corruption, the New Institutional Economics (NIÖ) and international monetary economics. In 1995 Lambsdorff founded the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), which he created for Transparency International until 2008 .
