Johann Hödlmayr

Johann Hödlmayr (born September 27, 1928 in Schwertberg , Upper Austria ; † November 18, 2011 ibid) was an Austrian transport company , founder and, until recently, chairman of the supervisory board of the international logistics service providerHödlmayr ”. His achievements and competence were recognized in the international logistics and vehicle industry. He held numerous high-ranking positions in the Chamber of Commerce .

Live and act

Johann Hödlmayr grew up as the son of Josef and Anna Hödlmayr on his parents' farm and was interested in vehicles and engines. In 1949 he became national champion of a hill climb .

Hödlmayr began his entrepreneurial activity in 1954 with cattle and ballast transport and achieved decisive advantages over the competition with double-decker transport . From 1961 he took over vehicle transport and developed the family business into an international vehicle logistics group. He is considered a logistics pioneer and is one of the most important business personalities in the Mühlviertel.

In 1967 the company's own customs warehouse was opened in Schwertberg, thus initiating the development of one of the largest vehicle transporters in Europe. After the fall of the Iron Curtain , the company, which until then had only had branches in Austria and Germany, began internationalization in 1990 through the purchase and establishment of further companies in 16 countries with around 1,650 employees (2015).
