Johann Heinrich Schwalm (born February 17, 1864 in Seigertshausen ; † July 21, 1946 in Treysa ) was a German teacher , school councilor , local researcher and poet .

Live and act

Schwalm attended the teachers' college in Homberg (Efze) from 1881 to 1884 . From 1884 to 1919 he was a teacher and cantor in Oberbegrenzebach . Since November 22, 1885 he was married to Martha Katharina Elise Heil. In 1919 he became school inspector, in 1921 district school councilor for the districts of Ziegenhain and Kirchhain. He retired in 1924.

Schwalm carried out biological and geological studies. He worked with the Prussian Geological State Institute and various geologists, u. a. with Max Blanckenhorn , Emanuel Kayser and August Denckmann . He was involved in adult education and various associations. Together with J. H. Kranz he wrote a number of poems. These are characterized by a genuine and subtle sense of humor (analogous quote from a preface by the district administrator of the Ziegenhain district). These and other texts in Schwalm dialect have shaped the Schwalm's cultural identity to a considerable extent. He published texts on Hessian regional studies and folklore as well as numerous other writings that are listed in the German National Library.

Johann Heinrich Schwalm was a connoisseur of the Schwalm.
