Johann Hieronymus Steffan von Cronstetten

Johann Hieronymus Steffan von Cronstetten (born June 16, 1614 in Frankfurt am Main ; † April 18, 1674 ibid) was a Frankfurt lawyer and politician from the noble family Steffan von Cronstetten .

Steffan von Cronstetten was the son of the mayor Hieronymus Steffan von Cronstetten and his wife, a born to the young. Since 1462 the family belonged to the noble society Alten Limpurg . In 1641 he married Anna Margaretha von Kröcher, née von Holzhausen. His son Matthias Carl Steffan von Cronstetten (1645–1717) was also councilor in Frankfurt am Main.

Steffan von Cronstetten studied from June 17, 1631 at the University of Marburg and from April 24, 1635 at the University of Strasbourg law. He may also have studied at the University of Giessen . After graduating, he went on a trip to Lorraine and Paris. He was arrested in France and released in 1637. Study trips to Germany, Austria and Italy followed in 1638. Then he settled in Frankfurt.

In 1654 he became a member of the council of the imperial city of Frankfurt. In 1664 he was the junior mayor. In 1665 he was promoted to aldermen and in 1671 was senior mayor.

Cronstettenstrasse in the north end of Frankfurt is named after his family (see the list of street names in Frankfurt am Main / C ).
