Johann Hildebrand (* (around) June 25, 1614 in Pretzsch ; † (buried) July 5, 1684 in Eilenburg ) was a German musician, composer and poet.

biography

Hildebrand was a son of the organist Tobias Hildebrand and the pastor's daughter Maria geb. Wanckel. After attending the Pretzsch school, he completed a five-year apprenticeship as an organist, probably first with his father and later with other organists. In 1637 he took over the position of organist at St. Nikolai in Eilenburg , which he held until his death.

From 1676 he gave organ lessons to the son of the Eilenburg town pfeifer Heinrich Zachow, who was Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow , and thus laid the foundation for his successful career.

He made a name for himself as a composer and poet.

For his services he received the honorary title of Electoral Court Musician .
