Johann Hohe (born December 14, 1774 at the Schweinsmühle near Kirchahorn, † July 19, 1847 in Bayreuth ) was a German painter.

Career

There is evidence of his stay in Bayreuth since 1797. He was married to Christiana Johanna Goetschel († December 22, 1829) from Goldkronach since March 28, 1797. Together the couple had six children, two daughters and four sons.

Christian Hohe (1798–1868) was the second born son. Friedrich Hohe (1802–1870) was the three years younger brother. Both brothers worked as painters and lithographers. Both received their first training from their father Johann Hohe and then studied at the Munich Art Academy. In addition, his brother Gustav Hohe (1800–1872) was a lawyer and a Bavarian administrative officer.
