Johann Holztrattner

Johann Holztrattner (born August 25, 1945 in Puch near Hallein ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and member of the Salzburg state parliament . Holztrattner was the 1st President of the State Parliament from 2004 to 2008.

education and profession

After attending compulsory school, Holztrattner learned to be a stonemason . He did military service and was then an intern at the pine marble industry. From January 1968 he worked for the Wiener Allianz in the service sector, in 1973 he joined the Salzburger Landesversicherung, where he worked from 1988. In addition, Holztrattner and his brother founded the company Autokarosserie Design Holztrattner in Puch in 1984.

politics

Holztrattner joined the SPÖ in 1963 and was a local councilor and parliamentary group leader of the SPÖ in Elsbethen from 1979. Within the party, he was a member of the SPÖ Flachgau district executive from 1982, and in 1989 he took over the office of district chairman, which he held until 2001. Holztrattner was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on July 8, 1992, and was elected as the second president of the state parliament on April 27, 1999. After the sudden death of Landtag President Helmut Schreiner , Holztrattner was the Executive President of the Landtag from September 26, 2001 to October 24, 2001. Following the election success of the SPÖ in the state elections in Salzburg in 2004 , Holztrattner was elected 1st state parliament president on April 28, 2004. During the term of office it was rumored several times that Holztrattner should have handed over his office to Gudrun Mosler-Törnström halfway through his term of office . Despite an internal agreement, Holztrattner would not have wanted to give up his office. Ultimately, Holztrattner suddenly resigned from his position on December 17, 2008, shortly before the end of the legislative period.

Private

Holztrattner was born as the fourth child of Franz and Martina Holztrattner. He is married and has two children.
