Johann I von Langenmantel , also Johann Langenmantel I. vom Sparren (* around 1275 in Augsburg ; † November 8, 1337 in Augsburg) was an Augsburg patrician and mayor of the Langenmantel family .

biography

Johann I von Langenmantel was the son of Konrad Langenmantel vom Sparren († 1302) and Hedwig born. Welser . The father's brothers, Hartmann († 1301) and Heinrich Langenmantel vom Sparren († 1300) also officiated as city caretakers. The father and his brothers together form the first generation of historically tangible members of this family in Augsburg.

Johann I von Langenmantel, nicknamed "Lop", was a long-distance trader, citizen , councilor and city judge. In 1303 he became a squire , from 1304 to 1306 he officiated as the elected town clerk, and in 1317 he was knighted .

In 1329, the patrician donated the so-called Langenmantel Chapel to the Augsburg Cathedral as a family burial place. It was consecrated to Our Lady and St. Christopher , connected to its own vicariate , was located on the south side of the cathedral and was demolished in 1808. He was buried there after his death.

Langenmantel was married three times. The first woman came from the family Amman von Werd (first name unknown), the second was called Agnes geb. Herwart and the third Margarethe von Rohrbach. With the latter he had the son and heir Johann Langenmantel II vom Sparren, who, however, is hardly known historically. He is considered the founder of the so-called Rohrbacher or Radauer line of the long coat from the rafters. His son Johann Langenmantel III. vom Sparren, or von Radau († 1426) officiated ten times as Augsburg city caretaker.

From his first marriage, Johann I von Langenmantel had a daughter, Anna, who married Konrad Minner II around 1320 , who was murdered in 1364 as a city clerk in Augsburg and was buried in the Dreikönigskapelle he had donated by the cathedral.
