from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann IV., Lord of Werle [-Goldberg], (* before 1350; † between March 13 and December 14, 1374 ) was Lord of Werle-Goldberg from 1354 to 1374 .

He was the son of Nicholas IV and Agnes.

His mother subordinated him as a minor, first to the guardianship of Duke Albrecht II of Mecklenburg , but was upset about this and chose Nicholas III. from Werle-Güstrow as guardian. After his death he presumably rules alone. On October 31, 1366 he concluded a marriage contract with Duke Albrecht II and his sons, according to which Euphemia, the daughter of Heinrich III. was promised. At that time it was only four years old. With John's death, the marriage, which was planned for 1379, was no longer consummated. He died unmarried and childless in 1374. On March 13, 1374 he was mentioned for the last time in a document, on December 14, 1374 he was no longer named as regent. He is said to have been buried in the Doberan Minster . With him, the Werl line Goldberg died out.

After his death, Bernhard II, Mr. zu Werle-Güstrow and Waren took over the regency.
