Johann Jacob alarm clock
Johann Jacob Wecker (also Johannes Jacobus Veckerus ; * 1528 in Basel , † 1586 in Colmar ) was a Swiss doctor and philosopher .
Life
Wecker studied medicine at the University of Basel from 1544 . He received his doctorate there and established himself as a general practitioner in Basel . In 1557 he was also given a full professorship in dialectics. In Basel he remained until 1566. In that year he took a reputation as Stadtphysicus to Colmar. He worked there until his death.
He was married to the poet and cookbook author Anna Wecker , who published his writings posthumously.
Sometimes it is stated that Wecker was buried in Vienna . In addition to medicine and philosophy, his writings also deal with chemistry and alchemy .
