Johann Jakob Gabathuler

Johann Jakob Gabathuler (born May 29, 1883 in Wartau ; † September 6, 1958 there ; reformed ; resident in Wartau) was a Swiss engineer-agronomist, farmer and politician .

Life

Johann Jakob Gabathuler was born as the son of the farmer Bartholome Gabathuler and Anna geb. Gabathuler. ⚭ 1916 Margaret Senn, daughter of Johann Jakob, cattle dealer and farmer. In 1906 he studied an agronomist engineer at the Zurich Polytechnic and worked as a farmer. From 1908 to 1911 he was director of the Charlottenfels agricultural school in Schaffhausen. From 1911 to 1918 he taught as a teacher at the agricultural school Custerhof in Rheineck and its branch in Sargans. From 1918 to 1938 he was president of the Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of the Canton of St. Gallen and neighboring areas. From 1953, Dr. hc from the St. Gallen Commercial College.

The political career took the free-thinking politician from 1918 to 1921 and from 1927 to 1930 to the St. Gallen Cantonal Council , from 1919 to 1929, 1935 to 1947 and 1951 to the National Council . From 1938 to 1951 he was the St. Gallen Executive Council .
