Johann Jakob Helfferich (born January 5, 1692 in Göppingen ; † August 23, 1750 in Tübingen ) was a German lawyer.

Life

Johann Jakob Helfferich (1692–1750) enrolled in Tübingen in 1706, but then returned to the grammar school in Stuttgart. In 1707 he was re-enrolled in Tübingen and first studied at the Faculty of Philosophy, and then completed a degree in law. From 1711 he continued his studies in Jena, where he studied history, heraldry and numismatics in addition to law. Then there were short stays in Halle an der Saale , Leipzig , Gießen and Marburg an der Lahn . In 1713 he returned to Tübingen and was re-enrolled there. In 1714 he was licensed as a lawyer and professor for history and politics at the Collegium Illustre in Tübingen. In 1716 he was promoted to Dr. iur. doctorate and took up his professorship. 1730–1750 he was a full professor of law at the University of Tübingen. After 1735 he held the title of professor of constitutional and feudal law. He was also a ducal-Württemberg councilor. 1733/34, 1736, 1742 and 1746 rector of the University of Tübingen. His portrait therefore hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .
