Johann Jakob Zuberbühler (politician, 1684)
Johann Jakob Zuberbühler (born December 31, 1684 in Herisau ; † November 2, 1755 there ; entitled to live in Herisau) was a Swiss doctor , mayor and governor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .
Life
Johann Jakob Zuberbühler was a son of Hans Jakob Zuberbühler, doctor, obstetrician and councilor, and Catharina Elmer. In 1705 he married Elisabeth Schiess, daughter of Johannes Schiess.
Zuberbühler trained as a doctor with his father and worked as such in Herisau. He moved his residence and practice from the hamlet of Schwänberg , where the family came from, to the center of Herisau, following a general trend among Herisau elites . From 1729 to 1733 Zuberbühler was a local councilor , from 1733 to 1738 as mayor of Herisau and from 1738 to 1755 as governor.
