Johann Joachim Carstens

Johann Joachim Carstens (born February 4, 1724 in Lübeck ; † July 4, 1790 ibid) was a German lawyer and council secretary of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Johann Joachim Carstens was the son of the council secretary and later councilor Johann Friedrich Carstens . He studied law from 1744 to 1747 in Jena and 1748 Göttingen, where he received his doctorate under the chairmanship of Georg Heinrich Ayrer with a licentiate in both rights. In Lübeck he was initially archivist for the Lübeck skipper drivers . In 1749 he was appointed registrar and third council secretary by the Lübeck council. In 1765 he was promoted to protonotary and held this office until his death. The rector of the Katharineum in Lübeck Friedrich Daniel Behn wrote the funeral speech for him.
