Johann Joachim Rolssen
Johann Joachim Rolssen (born September 29, 1751 in Riga ; † March 14, 1841 ibid) was mayor of the city of Riga.
Life
Johann Joachim Rolssen was the son of the Lüneburg- born master painter and senior man of the St. Johannis Guild in Riga. After attending the cathedral school in Riga, he studied theology, law and camera studies at the Georg-August University in Göttingen from 1774 to 1780 . During this time he was employed as a sub- senior (1777) and in 1778 as the successor to Gustav Johann von Buddenbrock until January 1779 as a senior member of the Kurland Landsmannschaft and in 1779 also became a member of the influential student order " ZN ". His silhouette from this period is in the Schubert silhouette collection in the Göttingen SUB .
Back in Riga, he initially worked as a lawyer for various authorities. 1797 Rolssen councilor in Riga., 1803 Governor, 1807 Church President of the Administrative and Finance Department General Court and Upper betting Lord . From 1810 he was one of the mayors of the city of Riga and held the function of chief orphan. In 1811 the city was a representative in the protective leaf vaccination committee for the Rigian district. Rolssen was elected mayor of Riga and president of the city consistory in 1826. He retired in 1834.
