Johann Josef Auer

Johann Josef Auer (* 1666 in Sipplingen ; † December 4, 1739 in Jestetten ) was a German sculptor and wood carver of the Baroque era .

Life

Johann Josef Auer was born in Sipplingen on Lake Constance. From 1707 he can be traced in Jestetten, where he married Maria Sutter (* December 27, 1666; † May 5, 1746) of Jestetten on April 26, 1714. They had no offspring.

At the time of the emerging baroque churches, Johann Josef Auer was active in numerous church buildings in his area. Numerous works could be ascribed to the hitherto little known artist.
