Johann Josef Leyendecker

Johann Josef Leyendecker (* 1810 in Dernau an der Ahr, † 1867 in Paris ) was a German painter .

Life

From 1832 to 1839 Leyendecker was enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was a student of Paul Delaroche and François-Joseph Heim . In the years 1835-1848 and 1861-1867 he took part regularly in the Paris Salon . In the 1850s he worked in the Bonn area and received several commissions for church paintings, among others. a. 1855 for the design of the altar of the church in Dernau with the coronation of Mary . In 1860 he finally moved to Paris.
