François-Joseph Heim
François-Joseph Heim (born January 16, 1787 in Belfort , † September 30, 1865 in Paris ) was a French painter.
Life
Heim was sent to Paris in 1803 by his father, a drawing teacher, to study in François-André Vincent's studio . At the age of 20 he won the Prix de Rome and then continued his education under the direction of Guillaume Lethière at the Académie de France à Rome .
On his return to Paris he received numerous commissioned works by Louis XVIII. and Charles X. In 1825 he was awarded the Legion of Honor, in 1829 he was elected a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts . He was appointed professor at the École des beaux-arts in 1832.
