Johann Justus Vieth von Golßenau (born January 1, 1770 in Meißen , † May 26, 1853 in Tetschen , Bohemia ) was a Saxon major general .

Life

Johann Justus Vieth joined the Saxon body grenadier guard in 1785 and was promoted to captain of the general staff until 1806. In 1810 he was promoted to colonel . In 1812 Vieth was unable to work due to a stroke, so he could not take part in the Russian campaign during the Sixth Coalition War . Instead he was appointed city ​​commander of Dresden in 1813 . After the defeat of Saxony in the Battle of Großgörschen in May 1813, Vieth withdrew to Bohemia. In 1815, Vieth was released from civil service at his own request. He then lived in Tetschen, where he died in May 1853.

His descendant was the writer Ludwig Renn .
