Johann Karl Ruppius
Johann Karl Ruppius (born October 8, 1786 in Altenburg , † November 1866 in Dresden ) was a German medic.
Ruppius studied in Berlin and later moved to the University of Jena . On the latter, Ruppius was able to successfully complete his studies with a doctorate in 1811 .
After his license to practice medicine, Ruppius opened a practice in his hometown in 1812. There he was appointed military surgeon that same year . In 1813, Ruppius was appointed to the court in Hildburghausen as Duke Friedrich's personal physician .
During the entire wars of liberation , Ruppius served as a medical officer for the Prussian troops. After the peace treaty of 1815, Ruppius settled in Gotha , where he headed the anatomical and surgical institute and gave lectures in anatomy there .
Around 1830 Ruppius settled down as a doctor again in his hometown and died there at the age of 80 in November 1866 in Dresden.
