Johann Meyer (* in Lübeck ; † January 11, 1518 ibid) was a German merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Johann Meyer was the son of the Lübeck citizen Otto Meyer († 1463). In 1501 he was elected to the Lübeck council. As envoy, he represented the city in 1503 with King John I of Denmark in negotiations with the Dutch cities, with whom he negotiated again in Bremen in 1514 . In 1516 Johann Meyer was with the Lübeck Mayor Hermann Meyer with King Christian II of Denmark and in 1517 with the Mayor Thomas von Wickede with Duke Friedrich von Holstein, who later became King Friedrich I of Denmark, in Plön . From 1515 to 1518 he was Lübeck's combiner.

Johann Meyer was married twice, in his second marriage to Anna Buxtehude. He lived in the house at Mengstrasse 38.
