Johann Nepomuk Ortlieb (* 1794 in Großnesselwang ; † July 9, 1851 in Meran ) was a German portrait painter .

Life

Johann Nepomuk Ortlieb studied from February 13, 1812 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich . After graduating, he worked as a portrait and genre painter. Because of the progressive illness he had to give up his own work in the second half of his life and deal with the restoration of paintings. He went to Meran for a spa stay, where he died.

On February 12, 1827, he married the cleaning worker Anna Barbara Lau in Regensburg, where he lived temporarily.
