Johann Niklas Bandelin
Johann Niklas Bandelin (born December 2, 1741 in Rehna ; † February 9, 1824 ) was a German educator and poet.
Life
Bandelin was the son of the preacher of the same name at the Rehna monastery church . From 1760 he studied theology at the University of Rostock , from 1761 in Bützow and after a financial break from 1765 at the University of Göttingen . After years as a private tutor and unsuccessful efforts to find a preacher position in Mecklenburg, he became a teacher at the Katharineum in Lübeck in 1778 . In 1820 he retired.
He wrote chants for edification , which appeared in Bützow in 1778 and, under the later title: Poems with religious content , reached seven editions by 1817, the last in 1817 with an appendix of patriotic poems . A final collection of sacred poems followed in 1820 .
In 1817 he was honored with the honorary membership of the Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities .
