Johann Peter Wagner (lithographer)

Johann Peter Wagner (* 1802 in Mannheim ; † 1847 in Karlsruhe ) was a German painter , lithographer and printer's owner.

Life

After an apprenticeship in uncle Karl Wagner's lithographic printing shop in Karlsruhe, Wagner began studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1823/24. A stay in Paris followed around 1824/25. There he met the painter Carl Ludwig Frommel . Around 1826/27 he traveled to Italy, after 1827 he took over his uncle's lithographic printing company under the name Lithographische Kunstanstalt JP Wagner in Karlsruhe. Wagner became chairman of the trade association founded in 1831 and a member of the Karlsruhe Museum Society. He was also a councilor in Karlsruhe.
