Johann Peter von Spreckelsen

Johann Peter von Spreckelsen (born December 14, 1722 in Hamburg ; † February 10, 1795 there ) was a German lawyer and Hamburg councilor .

Origin and family

Spreckelsen was a son of the Hamburg businessman Jürgen von Spreckelsen (1695–1739) from his marriage to Anna Elisabeth Boon (1703–1741).

On May 20, 1764 he married Elise Agatha Tamm (1744-1814), daughter of the businessman and councilor Simon Tamm († 1761). Of his daughters, Anna Elisabeth (1765–1848) became the second wife of the merchant and senior elder in the parish of Sankt Nikolai Walther Philipp Schlueter (1754–1823) and Dorothea (1771–1812) married the pastor of Sankt Severini in Kirchwerder Christian in 1793 Gottlob Knauth (1759-1815).

Born in Hamburg, Spreckelsen attended the learned school of the Johanneum and the academic high school . He studied law and completed his studies on June 6, 1749 as a doctor of law at the University of Göttingen .

After his studies he settled in Hamburg as a lawyer , was a judge at the Hamburg Lower Court in 1759 and 1760 and was elected councilor on September 27, 1768.

Spreckelsen had been a member of the Hamburg Society for the Advancement of Arts and Useful Trades since it was founded in 1765 .

In the Ohlsdorf cemetery , the collective gravestone plaque of Senators (I) from the Althamburg Memorial Cemetery commemorates Johann Peter von Spreckelsen, among others.
