Johann Philipp Storr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Philipp Storr (* 1665 ; † August 14, 1720 in Heilbronn ) was a Protestant pastor in Heilbronn from 1695 until his death.

Storr was first pastor in Homburg before he was called to Heilbronn in 1695. In Heilbronn, in particular, he appeared as a resolute opponent of pietism and published various publications on this matter. Regardless of his anti-Pietist attitude, his son Johann Christian Storr (1712–1773) became one of the main pillars of Pietism in Württemberg. After his death, rumors broke out from the Heilbronn Carmelite monastery that the devil had beaten Storr in the pulpit. In order to save Storr's honor and to refute the rumors, the City Council of Heilbronn published a printed history tale and honor of Storr's death in November 1720 .

Storr's son Johann Christian Storr (1712–1773) also became a pastor and was consistorial councilor and preacher in Stuttgart.
