Johann Christian Storr

Johann Christian Storr (born June 3, 1712 in Heilbronn , † May 8, 1773 in Stuttgart ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

He was the son of Heilbronn parish priest Johann Philipp Storr († 1720). At the age of 19 Storr began to study theology at the University of Tübingen . After graduation, he got a job as vicar in Nagold in 1735 . In the following year he was transferred to Validingen in the same position .

In 1739 Storr was promoted to court vicar in Kirchheim unter Teck and remained so for four years. In mid-1743 he took over the pastor's office in Hirsau , and in 1744 he was brought to Stuttgart as a deacon at the Leonhardskirche .

In Stuttgart he took over the office of court chaplain. From 1757 Storr worked as archdeacon at the Stuttgart collegiate church . From winter 1758 he was entrusted with the pastor's office at the Leonhardskirche.

In 1759 he was appointed preacher and a short time later consistorial councilor . From 1765 Storr lived and worked as a prelate in Bad Herrenalb . On May 3, 1772 Storr gave his farewell sermon, resigned all his offices and duties and retired into private life. He died on May 8, 1773 in Stuttgart, almost four weeks before his 61st birthday. His grave is in the Hoppenlauffriedhof .

His sons are the Tübingen theology professor Gottlob Christian Storr (1746-1805), who is considered a member of the Tübingen Orthodoxy , and the lawyer Wilhelm Ludwig Storr (1752-1804).
