Johann Philipp von Kesselstatt

Johann Philipp Franz Hyazinth von Kesselstatt (born September 18, 1754 in Trier ; † June 20, 1828 ibid) was cathedral capitular in Trier and archdeacon in Karden.

Life

Origin and family

In the 13th and 14th centuries, the noble family von Kesselstatt came to the Trier area. It originally came from the Hessian area, whose parent company of the same name was near Kesselstadt . Numerous personalities emerged from the family who held important positions in church and state. Johann Philipp Franz Hyazinth von Kesselstatt was born as the son of Karl Friedrich Melchior von Kesselstatt (1692–1751) and his wife Maria Isabella Theresia Antoinette Raitz von Frentz . His sister Klara Luise (1726–1746) was married to Johann Hugo Franz Graf von Metternich-Winneburg . His brother Hugo (1727–1796) was the imperial country steward and privy councilor.

Act

In 1762 Johann Philipp became canon in Trier and in 1783 was appointed cathedral capitular . The Archbishop of Trier Clemens Wenzeslaus transferred the Archdeaconate Karden to him on October 24, 1793 . After the French had occupied the left bank of the Rhine , Johann was elected dean of the cathedral in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein on July 6, 1795 . With this election he renounced the Archdeaconate Karden.
