Alexander Petrovich Tscharuschnikow ( Russian Александр Петрович Чарушников * August 28 . Jul / 9. September  1852 greg. In Glasow , † May 5 jul. / 18th May  1913 greg. In Moscow ) was a Russian publisher .

Life

Tscharuschnikow's father Pyotr Jelissejewitsch Tscharuschnikow came from a peasant family and became a merchant of the 2nd guild in Glasow. Tscharuschnikow attended the Ujesd school and then worked in the office of the Omutinskoje ironworks . From 1873 to 1874 he worked in Nizhny Novgorod , where he joined an intelligentsia circle. He then went to St. Petersburg and worked in the office of the merchant Kokorew. He came into contact with activists of the social revolutionary secret society Narodnaya Volya . In April 1879 he was arrested and exiled to Glazov. There he made friends with the brothers Vladimir and Illarion Korolenko, who had been excluded from studying in 1879 for revolutionary activities and who lived in Glazov in the house of Mikhail Ivanovich Shulyatikov 's father . In December 1881 he returned to St. Petersburg and worked in the Northern Insurance Company as an assistant to the river insurance inspector.

At the end of 1897, Tscharuschnikow and S. Dorowatowski founded a publishing house in Moscow with a branch in St. Petersburg to publish the works of Maxim Gorky , for which no publisher could be found in Russia at the time. As a result, the books by Wladimir Germanowitsch Bogoras , Evgeni Nikolajewitsch Tschirikow , Anna Alexandrowna Kirpishchikowa , A. Pogorelow and Nikolai Iwanowitsch Timkowski were published for the first time. After Tscharuschnikows death his will, the publisher was accordingly closed, and the remaining literature was the Municipal Moscow Schanjawski - People's University passed.

Tscharuschnikow was buried in the Vagankovo cemetery next to his nephew Vladimir Mikhailovich Shulyatikov .

A niece of Tscharuschnikov was the revolutionary Anna Michailovna Rasputina .
