Johann Reichelt
Hans Reichelt (born April 20, 1877 in Baden near Vienna ; † May 12, 1939 there ) was an Austrian linguist , Indo-Europeanist and university professor.
Life
After graduating from high school in his hometown, he studied comparative linguistics , classical philology , German and Indian studies in Vienna (1896–1898, with Rudolf Meringer ) and Giessen ; where he received his doctorate in 1900 under Christian Bartholomae . After his habilitation in 1908 at the University of Giessen for Sanskrit , comparative linguistics and the history of religion , he was appointed professor for comparative linguistics at the University of Czernowitz as an associate professor in 1911 . From 1918 to 1920 he taught as a lecturer for Indian and Iranian in Innsbruck until he was appointed professor for oriental philology in Graz in 1920. From 1926 to 1930 he was professor for Iranian languages in Hamburg . In 1930 he returned to the Indo-Europeanist as Meringer's successor. Chair back to Graz (1938/1939 rector ).
