Johann Rudolf Buxtorf

Johann Rudolf Buxtorf (born October 24, 1747 in Basel ; † 1831 Basel) was a Reformed theologian.

After studying at the University of Basel , he became a private tutor to the family of the Counts of Schaumburg-Lippe . He then returned to Basel and in 1793 became professor of rhetoric and theology. He also taught and researched biblical archeology .

He was a great-grandson of Johann Buxtorf the Elder .
