Johann Rudolf Pfyffer from Altishofen
Johann Rudolf Pfyffer von Altishofen (* probably 1615 ; † May 17, 1657 ) from the Lucerne patrician family Pfyffer von Altishofen was the 10th commandant of the Swiss Guard from 1652 to 1657 . He served under Popes Innocent X and Alexander VII.
He placed 24 catacomb saints in Switzerland. These include Synesius in the Bremgarten town church , Damianus in Baden , Leontius in the Muri monastery church , Placidus in the Einsiedeln monastery and Marianus and Getulius in the Wettingen monastery .
He died of bacterial dysentery .
