Johann Schneider (sociologist)

Johann Schneider (* 1944 ) is a German sociologist . He was Rector of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (1987–1994) and has been President of Karlshochschule International University since 2017 .

Life

Johann Schneider studied sociology with a focus on urban sociology, organizational sociology and ethics. He was a research assistant at the Institute for Social Research and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . He was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1976 to 2009 Schneider was Professor of Sociology at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt am Main, as well as Vice-Rector (1983–1984; 1985–1986) and Rector (1987–1994). Since September 2017 he has been President of the Karlshochschule International University in Karlsruhe.

Schneider is a member of several university boards. He is on various accreditation commissions of the Science Council and the  Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) . He was a board member of the Brandenburg State University Council and a board member of the ISR Institute for Urban and Regional Development.
