Music and symbol language

As an artist collective, the three musicians combine the past and the present on a musical and thematic level as well as their appearance on a visual level. On stage, the band members act as fictional characters and accordingly wear rococo wigs, lightly made-up skin and sumptuous baroque costumes when they appear. The band calls this style "electro coco"; it contains elements of dance, pop and funk. The electronic rhythms of the band are also mixed with classical sounds that are reminiscent of the Baroque era , in which the eponym Johann Sebastian Bach lived.

It is characteristic of the band that electronic music is played in the band context, which is also reflected in the use of Johann Martinus Bass's talk box . The use of a talk box always requires live musicians, with Johann Sebastian Bass Johann Martinus bass plays with the synthesizer through the talk box and forms words, which ultimately changes the sound. The vocoder is also used and, along with the talkbox, has a major impact on the band's sound.

The use of symbols and signs is characteristic of the music style and the overall concept of the band . The band takes characters and musical quotations from the Baroque and Rococo periods and merges them with the age of technology. These are reinterpretations of melodies, for example by Johann Sebastian Bach or Georg Friedrich Handel, which are embedded in contemporary electronic music with its technical possibilities. The use of harpsichord sounds in connection with electronic rhythms is a special characteristic of music. There is also strong symbolism and quotes on the content level, for example in the titles Der Untergang or Major Dom from the album Sugar Suite . There are also musical quotes from the present: the song Voodoo arouses associations with Prince , the use of the talk box with Daft Punk .

Semiotics plays a major role in the band, because it not only draws on the symbols and signs of the Baroque and Rococo periods on a musical and visual level - with the appearance on the stage; The symbolism of the band's logo is also of great importance: As a symbol of the band, in addition to the short form “JSB”, a poodle or three poodles have established themselves as equivalents for the three band members. The poodles also appear on the album or CD cover of Sugar Suite  as well as on various merchandise items with wigs and baroque clothing.
