The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) returned, after various competitions in previous years ( Austria at the Euro Vision Song Contest ), for the ESC in 2015 back to a public competition back under the name Euro Vision Song Contest - Who sings for Austria? took place. Sixteen artists presented themselves to an expert jury in the first broadcast, who then decided on six performers who were to convince the audience of themselves in the next two broadcasts. The artists were supported by music professionals, with whom they wrote their song, among other things. The participants were looked after by musician Anna F. , rapper Nazar and the band The BossHoss .
The first three programs were recorded in December 2014, before the last program was broadcast live on March 13, 2015. In this, the winner (and his song) was determined 50% by jury evaluation and 50% by tele-voting. All four programs were moderated by Mirjam Weichselbraun , and they have been broadcast on ORF eins since February 20th . On December 2, 2014, the ORF presented the 16 candidates for the national preliminary decision. On the same day, the recordings of the preliminary decision began.

The live final
On March 13th the final of the preliminary decision took place, in which the six candidates presented their songs and faced a jury and the televoting. The winner (The Makemakes) was determined in two rounds: First, ten international juries ( Latvia , France , Australia , the Netherlands , Spain , Israel , United Kingdom , Germany , Slovenia and Italy ) voted on the six titles. An overall rating was drawn up from the combined results. The juries together made up 50 percent of the overall rating. The other 50 percent were based on the result of a telephone and SMS voting. The two songs with the most points competed again in a final round, with only one further telephone / SMS voting being used. Due to the higher number of points from the telephone voting, DAWA moved into the final.
