Danza Kuduro is a song by Don Omar and Lucenzo . It was released on August 15, 2010, but only achieved international fame as the credits song of the film Fast & Furious Five .
The song reached number 1 in the singles charts in several countries, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Vem dançar kuduro
Already on April 12, 2010 the Portuguese musician Lucenzo released the song Vem dançar kuduro ( German : "Come, dance Kuduro ") together with Big Ali , which is written in Portuguese and English and is too big in terms of both music and text Sharing is similar. The song reached high chart positions in some countries, in Sweden Vem dançar kuduro even reached number 1 in the charts. The song reached number 31 in Switzerland, number 2 in France, number 14 in Denmark, number 12 in Finland and number 15 in Norway. Kuduro is an Angolan music style that is mainly popular in Portugal, Italy and the Balkans.
Emergence
In the summer of 2010, Don Omar rewrote the original English text into Spanish . Then he recorded the new Spanish-Portuguese text with Lucenzo and changed the melody a little. The single was released on August 15, 2010.
criticism
The song was only reviewed by a few critics, but mostly it was rated positively.
Amar Toor writes on AOL Music that Danza Kuduro is one of the best reggaeton has to offer. He thinks that the song has a real catchy tune and will spread quickly.
Alison Stewart of the Washington Post writes that the song shows the typical style of Don Omar. In their opinion, these are sunny, light, fast and catchy melodies.
Video
The video for the single was recorded on the Caribbean island of St. Martin with director Carlos Perez, who is responsible for most of Don Omar's videos. The video shows Don Omar and Lucenzo driving expensive cars and boats and living out their luxury in this way. They are accompanied by two dancers.
The video premiered on August 17th, 2010 on Vevo , but on July 30th, 2010 there was a pre-premiere on Don Omar's Facebook page. The video quickly gained popularity on YouTube and has since been viewed approximately 570 million times.
Other versions
- Lucenzo recorded a version of Pitbull and Qwote in English, Portuguese and Spanish called Throw Your Hands Up (the English translation of the first line of the chorus), in this version the chorus of Qwote is sung in English and is more or less a translation of the original refrains. Pitbull's verse "One life, two worlds, english, spanish, one night, two girls, english, spanish" was also taken over on his song Last Night with Havana Brown on the album Global Warming .
- Don Omar recorded a remix version with rappers Daddy Yankee and Arcángel .
- Another version in Spanish and English is Danza Kuduro (Sexy Ladies) by Don Omar in collaboration with Akon . In this version Don Omar sings a different verse, Akon also sings two verses and an alternative refrain.

After the song was released, it initially remained moderately popular and was only able to make it into the charts in Spain. It was only when Danza Kuduro was chosen as the score for the film Fast & Furious Five that it received international attention and became one of the summer hits of 2011. In Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the American Latin Charts, Danza Kuduro reached first place in the charts. In Norway the song came to number 2 in the singles charts, in Denmark, Bulgaria and Sweden number 3, in Finland number 5, in Portugal number 8, in France number 32 and in the USA number 82.
In Germany, the single was awarded the gold record . A platinum record was awarded in Spain and Switzerland, and twice in Italy.
