Johann Sedlmaier

Johann Sedlmaier (born April 18, 1972 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian Roman Catholic priest . He has been Vicar General of the Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt since February 3, 2020 .

Life

After completing his training as a baker, Johann Sedlmaier attended the Bundesaufbaugymnasium Horn , where he passed his Matura in 1995 . He studied at the seminary in Graz and received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt in 2003 from Bishop Alois Schwarz .

In addition to various tasks in the parish ministry he studied at the University of Innsbruck and was in 2007 Józef Niewiadomski in dogmatic theology for Doctor of theology doctorate . From 2013 to 2018 he was Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Council of Priests . In addition, he was clergyman assistant to the management of the Episcopal Pastoral Office of the diocese.

On January 20, 2020, Bishop-designate Josef Marketz announced the appointment of Sedlmaier as Vicar General of the Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt. The appointment took effect on February 3 of the same year, the day after Marketz's episcopal ordination.
