Johann Sigismund Friedrich von Khevenhüller-Metsch

Johann Sigismund Friedrich 2nd Prince of Khevenhüller-Metsch (born February 22, 1732 in Vienna , † June 15, 1801 in Klagenfurt ) was a diplomat in the imperial service. Most recently he was the emperor's supreme representative in imperial Italy as plenipotentiary .

family

He was the second-born son of Johann Joseph 1st Prince of Khevenhüller . The mother was Karolina Maria Augustina (nee Countess Metsch). He himself was married to Princess Maria Amalia Liechtenstein from 1754 onwards. The marriage resulted in a total of nine children. In 1800 he married Maria Josephine Countess Strassoldo for the second time. No children emerged from the union. He was also Prince of Aichelberg, Count of Hohen-Ostrowitz and Annabüchl, Baron of Landskron and Wernberg and heir to Carlsberg.

Life

He entered the diplomatic service and was Imperial envoy to Portugal between 1756 and 1760 . He then held this post from 1763 to 1770 at the Sardinian court in Turin . Between 1775 and 1782 he was the highest representative of the emperor and the empire in imperial Italy as plenipotentiary.

He then retired from public affairs. He lived in Milan and other cities in Italy. After returning to Austria in 1801, he fell ill and died.
