Johann Stael

Johann Stael (* in the 15th century; † February 25, 1498 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Johann Stael came from the Rhenish - Westphalian knight family Stael and was the son of Konrad (Cord) Stael zu Loburg (1385–1446, knight and bailiff of Sassenberg) and his wife Kunigunde von Bevern. He was the brother of Canon Dietrich . In 1461 Johann was first mentioned as a canon in Münster. After the death of Hermann von Merveldt , he took over the cathedral coast in 1465. It was also owned by the archdeaconates in Vreden, Groenlo, Neede and Vragern. In the years 1488 to 1495 he held the office of cathedral dean in Osnabrück . Together with the cathedral dean Hermann von Langen, he is one of the founders of the Annunciation, which was originally in the Liesborn monastery and is now in the National Gallery of London .
