Johann Thies

Johann Thies (born October 5, 1898 in Bremen , † November 12, 1969 in Verden ) was a German educator and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Thies initially worked as a primary and secondary school teacher. After the National Socialists came to power , he was dismissed in 1933 and then worked in the private sector. At the invitation of the Yugoslav government, he went on a geopolitical study trip in 1937. In 1939 he was obliged to do emergency service and was entrusted with the management of the food and economic office in Verden. Thies had been a school councilor in the Rotenburg district since 1949 and became federal chairman of the German teachers' association in 1956 .

MP

Thies had been a councilor for the city of Verden and a member of the district council of Verden since 1952 . He belonged to the German Bundestag from May 30, 1956, when he replaced the late MP Wilhelm Naegel , until 1957. He was drawn into parliament via the Lower Saxony state list.

Public offices

Thies served as mayor of the city of Verden in 1945/46 and again from 1961 to 1964. He was also temporarily head of the district of Verden. From 1945 to 1948 he served as President of the Stade administrative district .
