Johann Joseph Thuille (* 1590 in South Tyrol ; † after 1631) was a scholar, poet , physician and mathematician from Tyrol .

Life

Thuille came from a very simple background. As a talented farmer's boy, he learned to read and write in the Marienberg Abbey . After attending grammar school in Innsbruck , he was able to study in Freiburg im Breisgau with a state scholarship . After graduating, he taught Humaniora in Freiburg for two years until he was forcibly recruited.

Thuille was Professor of Fine Arts in Padua from 1625 to 1631.

He also devoted himself to medicine and mathematics. In 1621 he published an annotated new edition of Alciatis Emblemata . The epigram comes from Johann Baptist Windthier and preceded the Alciati commentaries.
