Johann Wilhelm Gehring

Johann Wilhelm Gehring (* 1721 ; † 1787 in Rudolstadt ) was a composer and musician. He was Kapellmeister of the court orchestra in Rudolstadt from 1771 to 1787.

Gehring was an important bassoonist . After the death of Georg Gebel , he succeeded him as the royal Schwarzburg conductor. Gehring also created some compositions, which, however, did not get beyond the manuscript stage. His son Ludwig Gehring (* around 1762, † 1821), born in Rudolstadt, was a flautist at the court orchestra in Vienna .
