Johann Wilhelm Matthias Wöhler

Johann Wilhelm Matthias Wöhler (born March 12, 1781 in Stapelburg ; † June 3, 1873 in Ludwigslust ) was a German teacher and cantor .

Life

Johann Wöhler was the second son of the sheep master Wilhelm Wöhler (1756–1831) and his wife Maria, née Barthel (1762–1846). On the run from French advertisers, he fled to Rügen , where he worked as a teacher and cantor. From 1820 to 1837 Wöhler was court singer in Ludwigslust. From 1824 to 1853 he was also a singing teacher at the Ludwigslust seminar and from 1837 to 1843 organist at the court church there . He was also a writing teacher at the "Latin School" in Ludwigslust.
