Johann Wilhelm Redtel

Johann Wilhelm Redtel (born August 18, 1737 in Stettin ; † July 24, 1799 there ) was a German local lawyer. He was Lord Mayor of Stettin from 1791 until his death .

Johann Wilhelm Redtel's father Martin Christian Redtel was initially procurator at the Stargard court, and from 1744 secretary to the Pomeranian government. Johann Wilhelm Redtel had three brothers who went into the Prussian civil service.

Johann Wilhelm Redtel studied law at the University of Halle from 1755 . In 1760 he acquired the citizenship of his native Szczecin. From 1761 he worked in Szczecin as city secretary. In 1768 he became a councilor. From 1769/1770 he was the town councilor. He belonged to the Freemasons from around 1775 .

In 1791 he was elected as the successor to the late Joachim Friedrich Pauli by the magistrate to the municipal district administrator and mayor ("consul dirigens") and confirmed by the Prussian king. He remained in office until his death in 1799.
