Johann Wilhelm Siebel (born October 23, 1743 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ); † October 29, 1792 there ) was mayor of Elberfeld.

Siebel was born as the son of Elberfeld merchant and councilor Johann Abraham Siebel (1705–1763) and his wife Christina Margareta Schneltgen (1716–1787) and baptized on November 5, 1743 in Elberfeld. Siebel married Charlotta Cappel (1749–1781) from Langenberg on November 6, 1771 , with whom he had four children. She was a granddaughter of the Elberfeld mayor from 1718 and 1725 Wilhelm von Carnap . After her death, Siebel married Sara Esther Merrem (1758–1831) from Duisburg on August 27, 1783, with whom he had three other children, including the poet Johann Gerhard Siebel , who wrote under the pseudonym “Götz vom Rheine” . His second wife was the niece of Peter von Carnap , who was mayor of Elberfeld in 1722.

Siebel first became a merchant in Elberfeld, as his ancestors had already been. In 1773 he was on the city council for the first time, the next time in 1776. The following year he was proposed and elected as his successor by the incumbent mayor, his cousin Johann Rüttger Siebel . After the one-year term of office, he was also appointed city judge. From 1781 to 1783 he was again in the Elberfeld council and in 1784 he was once again mayor. At the end of his tenure, he proposed his cousin J. Rüttger Siebel as his successor, who was then also elected in 1785, while J. Wilhelm Siebel was again city judge. In 1787 Siebel was on the Elberfeld Council for the last time.
