Amphoe Sangkhom ( Thai : อำเภอ สังคม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the west of the Nong Khai Province . The province of Nong Khai is located in the north of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Neighboring districts (from the east clockwise): Amphoe Si Chiang Mai and Pho Tak province Nong Khai, Amphoe Na Yung of Udon Thani province and Amphoe Pak Chom the province of Loei . To the north on the other bank of the Mekong lies the Lao prefecture of Vientiane .

history

Originally, Sangkhom was a tambon from Tha Bo district , which became part of the newly established Si Chiang Mai district on August 4, 1958 . On March 1, 1966, the "Branch Circle" ( King Amphoe ) Sangkhom was established, which was promoted to Amphoe on November 16, 1971.

There is one municipality with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Sangkhom (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สังคม ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Sangkhom and Kaeng Kai.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):
