Amphoe Sakhrai ( Thai : อำเภอ สระ ใคร ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the east of Nong Khai Province . The province of Nong Khai is located in the north of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

The province of Nong Khai is located about 615 kilometers northeast of Bangkok along the Mekong , which here forms the border with Laos .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from north): Amphoe Tha Bo and Mueang Nong Khai in Nong Khai Province and Amphoe Phen and Ban Phue in Udon Thani Province .

history

Sakhrai was first established on April 30, 1994 as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) by separating it from the Mueang Nong Khai district.

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.
