Amphoe Pho Tak ( Thai : อำเภอ โพธิ์ ตาก ) is a Thai district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the Nong Khai Province . The province of Nong Khai is located in the north of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

The province of Nong Khai is located about 615 kilometers northeast of Bangkok along the Mekong , which here forms the border with Laos .

Pho Tak District borders the following counties (from west clockwise) to the Amphoe Sangkhom , Si Chiang Mai and Tha Bo in Nong Khai province, as well as Amphoe Ban Phue the province of Udon Thani .

history

Pho Tak was initially set up on July 1, 1997 as a “branch circle” ( King Amphoe ) by separating the three tambon Pho Tak, Phon Thong and Dan Si Suk from the Si Chiang Mai district .

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.
