Johann van der Beeck

Johann van der Beeck (born June 2, 1729 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ); † December 14, 1802 there ) was a councilor and merchant in Elberfeld.

As the son of Johann Peter van der Beeck (1696-1769) and Anna Maria Katharina Sondermann (1693-1777), Johann received on 20 May 1734 Elberfeld the Christening .

On September 23, 1752 he married Anna Gertrud de Roer (1732–1775) in Elberfeld. Five children are known from the marriage, including Johann Peter van der Beeck (1756–1834). He married Maria Katharina Kersten (1766–1784), the daughter of the banker Abraham Kersten .

Johann married Anna Elisabeth Schlieper (1738–1802), daughter of the mayor Johann Abraham Schlieper .

Johann van der Beeck worked as mayor in 1783, and as city judge the following year. He is also one of the founding members of the Closed Reading Society founded in 1775 .

Johann van der Beeck died on December 14, 1802 in Elberfeld and was buried on December 17, 1802.
